Wort is a brewer's term for un fermented beer, produced by hailing di- lute malt sugar compounds with hops to add hop flavor and rid the future beer of unstable malt proteins. The first step in brewing beer is produc- ing wort. Wort is composed largely of barley malt sugar and flavor com- pounds, diluted with water and spiced with hops.
